Trolling Around Cambridge

There is much to see in this city. I spend most of the day wandering the city, and seeing the sites including many of the Colleges associated with the university. The big site was King’s College, and chapel. I had a ticket to enter here the following day so for today, I simply circumnavigated this famous and quite iconic location. I also had a closer look roundly church I had been in the previous evening, as well as investigating more of the grounds of Christ’s College, where my accommodation was located. It turns out that Charles Darwin himself lived, and studied here after deciding that the study of medicine at the University of Edinburgh was not for him. I took coffee in the “Fellow’s Garden”, and enjoyed my book.

In the afternoon, I took a rainy walk round St.John’s College. Here I saw architecture from a number of periods of history, right up to the late 20th century. The juxtaposition of the styles made me smile, and the newer buildings reminded me a lot of those I studied, and worked in when I was a student, and staff member at The University of Edinburgh.

In the late afternoon, and evening, I met with my former “flat-mates”, Fiona, and Keith ‘McMillan . Coincidently, they were brought up in the town where I now work, albeit long before I got there. It was wonderful to see them and many’s a world was “set to right”. We had drinks and some lovely food at a local establishment and I enjoyed all we had to discuss. It was noteworthy that even after 21 years since we lived together, we still had much in common in terms of life experiences then, and now.
